Yesterday evening local residents came out in force to support Frank Gulluscio’s campaign for City Council. Almost 200 people from all over the district came to Ozone Park for a night of grilling and politicking. Residents from the entire district, Woodhaven to the Rockaways, were in attendance.

In addition, elected officials from all over Queens came to show their support for Frank Gulluscio. In attendance were Congressman Anthony Weiner, Queens Borough President Helen Marshall, State Senator Joe Addabbo, Assembly member Audrey Pheffer, Assembly member Michael Dendekker and Democratic District Leader Lew Simon.

Each of them spoke about the significance of the upcoming race and the importance of having an experienced representative in City Hall.

Congressman Weiner said ““Frank Gulluscio brings the experience that this district needs. Being a part of this neighborhood gives him the knowledge to fight for exactly what the community needs."

Queens Borough President Helen Marshall followed with “Frank Gulluscio is a long time resident and activist who cares deeply about his community. His long time service on Community Board 6 has given him a wealth of knowledge on a multitude of issues. I whole heartedly endorse his campaign for city council.”

State Senator Joe Addabbo spoke about Frank’s time as his own personal chief of staff when he was City Councilman, saying “While I was the Councilman, Frank was with me every step of the way as we dealt with tough budgets, transportation issues, improvements to our children’s education, addressing public safety and other quality issues. That's why I know with certainty he will be a successful Councilman.”

Assembly member Pheffer said “"As a devoted member of this community, Frank Gulluscio has worked to protect generations of families. First as a father, and now as a grandfather Frank understands what it means to raise a family in our neighborhood. I have known Frank Gulluscio for over 20 years and there is no one with greater knowledge and commitment to this district."

Assembly member Dendekker said “Frank is truly a civic leader in the community with the experience and relationships to best serve this district.”

Democratic District Leader Lew Simon concluded with “Frank will be a fighter for the district because Frank knows the district. He will be a strong advocate for all of his constituents in the 32nd council district. He is someone who knows the inner workings of city government and will work 24/7 for the entire community.”

Frank then addressed the audience, “As I travel the district and meet with voters I hear the same thing: the Middle Class is under attack. Every day we deal with rising tolls, increased fines and higher taxes. We are dealing with a budget that is being balanced on our back. Enough is enough! For too long the Middle Class has been told to do more with less and I am tired of it. We need someone to represent us in City Hall and tell them that the status quo is not working. We need new ideas for revenue and not the tired old play-book of higher taxes and increased tolls. We also need our Councilman to represent the entire district, not only a select part. Our community is a diverse one with many residents of different languages and ethnicities. I promise to be a voice for all residents not only a select few. As a community we need better public transportation, smaller class size and no new taxes hurting our Middle Class. But individual communities have their own specific quality of life concerns as well. Different neighborhoods have different concerns all of which are important. They deserve an experienced representative that can deliver for his constituents and the district. Together we can make that happen.”
