Four children playing in a Queens park Tuesday stumbled upon a suitcase filled with human bones, a police source said.
A skull, a spine and several other bones packed in a blue rolling suitcase were found about 4:30 p.m. in Forest Park in Woodhaven, cops said.
"They dragged it out ... and opened it up and took the skull out," a source said. "They thought maybe there was some money in [the suitcase]. What a surprise."
Police believe the case, found behind some bushes about 25 feet from a concrete trail, may have been dumped days or even weeks ago, a source said.
There were also some clothes in the case, but no documents that could identify where the bones came from.
Two kids made a disturbing discovery yesterday while playing in Forest Park - a suitcase full of bones, including what appears to be a skull.
The children were playing at the southern edge of the park, at Forest Parkway and Park Lane South in Woodhaven, when they stumbled on the suitcase.
The bones are believed to be human and the Medical Examiner's Office will examine them today to make a determination.
