An MTA bus driver is recovering Sunday night after being slashed during a dispute with a rider.

The violent confrontation happened near the intersection of 165th Avenue and 104th Street in Howard Beach, Queens.

That's where Eyewitness News reporter Carolina Leid has more.

With a look of disbelief and huddled between emergency crews, the MTA driver put pressure on her wounds.

She was slashed on the job. The woman stepped into an ambulance and rushed to Jamaica Hospital.

All while, her slasher couldn't be found.

Kathryn McGurgan lives a tones' throw away from the crime scene.

She says 165th Avenue and 104th Street in Howard beach is a very secluded spot Q11 bus drivers use for a quick break along their route.

She thought the driver was simply doing just that just before noon Sunday.

Bobby Ferlande plays baseball where the suspect was last scene running away from bus 159.

It's a spot he now thinks twice about visiting.

"I think I'm going to get out of here actually. Wow. I can't believe it. A woman bus driver? That's insane," Bobby Ferlande said. "What's this world coming to you know?"

Suspect, still on the loose but the driver is ok. She was treated and released from the hospital.
