New York Families For Autistic Children held its 11th annual dance and awards celebration last Thursday night at Russo’s on the Bay in Howard Beach.
The special Guardian Angel honoree of the night was Gov. David Paterson. Other honorees included Michele Kule-Korgood, who received the Autism Advocacy award, and Drs. Michael Elice and Marvin Boris of Autism Association of New York, who received the Autism Inspiration award.
One of the evening’s highlights was when state Sen. Joseph Addabbo Jr., Assemblywoman Audrey Pheffer (both D-Ozone Park) and City Councilman David Weprin (D-Hollis) unveiled a graphic rendering of NYFAC’s widely anticipated “green” recreation center, which will be located at the intersection of Centerville Street and Pitkin Avenue in Ozone Park.
