Statement from Council Member Elizabeth Crowley on Recent Meeting with DEA...
“I met with members of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) this week regarding the recent arrests in Middle Village. I am impressed with the scope of the investigation which has showcased the DEA’s ability to work with and lead joint task forces with city, state and federal agencies to bring down a massive drug trafficking operation. The drug bust in Queens started with a small arrest that uncovered a huge, far reaching drug ring. The take away message from the meeting today was: ‘if you see something, say something.’ Over the next few months I will work with the DEA to make sure our community understands the dangers posed by drugs. We will host drug awareness programs for our schools and make sure parents and community members know what to look for and how to report suspicious activity.”
