More than 40 residents gathered Tuesday night at Saint Barnabas Church to take part in the first meeting of the new Howard Beach Civic Association.
Among the guest speakers were Councilman Eric Ulrich, standing, who talked about the city’s budget and funding cuts; Larry Love, a representative from Assemblywoman Audrey Pheffer’s office, who spoke about the Assembly’s influence on the budget, and Pat McCabe, an aide to state Sen. Joe Addabbo Jr., who discussed the Senate’s budget.
Community Board 10 Chairwoman Betty Braton also contributed with a presentation on the history and importance of community boards. The Howard Beach Civic meets every last Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. at Saint Barnabus Church, located at 159-19 98th St. For more information, email hbcivicassn@aol.com.
