Rep. Weiner on State of the Union Address: "The President is Leading while the GOP is Slashing"

Today, after President Obama’s State of the Union address, Rep. Anthony Weiner (D – Queens and Brooklyn) released the following statement:

“Investment is good. We need to create jobs and grow our economy. ”

“Unfortunately my Republican colleagues don’t see it that way.”


“While the President is leading, the GOP is slashing.”

Rep Crowley Statement on President Obama's State of the Union Address

Today, Congressman Joe Crowley (D-Queens, the Bronx), a Chief Deputy Whip in the U.S. House of Representatives, released the following statement in response to President Obama’s State of the Union address:

“It is not enough to merely strive to maintain America’s standing in the world. We must lay a foundation to ensure American workers and businesses can keep their competitive edge on the world’s stage and outpace our global competitors. Our nation was built by entrepreneurs, and it is time we tap back into the innovative spirit that put our nation on top in the first place.

“I will work with the Obama Administration and leaders in Congress to ensure we make smart and defined investments in our future. Investments that will prepare our workers and students for 21^st century jobs and create the world’s next generation of leaders in science, engineering and math. Investments that will spark innovation in clean energy, transportation infrastructure and technology. Investments that encourage the ingenuity and imagination that is at the heart of this great nation.

Congressman Gregory W. Meeks Statement on State of the Union
