Queens advocates launched a campaign Tuesday to let New Yorkers know there is plenty to see and do in the diverse county.
In a time when gas and airfare costs are going up, the borough is increasingly seen as a close, affordable travel destination.
"We have some of the best restaurants in the city, beautiful parks, swimming pools, whatever anyone might need to do is right here in Queens and often times we neglect to do the things that are right under our noses," said Queens Assemblyman Michael Gianaris.
"Some things you can't find anything else in the world,” said Jack Friedman of the Queens Chamber of Commerce. “We have the greatest parks and the greatest beaches. We have the New York Mets, cultural institutions."
The name of the advertising campaign is "Take a 'stay'-cation in Queens."
