Queens Gazette: See What's Going On And Visit The New Penn Park...

I went on this tour, the park looks great...I like that they selected all native grasses and trees, it will provide low maintenance and enhance the natural environment of the area immensely...The park will afford visitors an impressive view of Jamaica Bay and of the entire panorama. (The park isn't expected to be open for approximately 5 years, contrary to the article)...

See What's Going On And Visit The New Penn Park:

After eight years of planning and preparation and seven years of construction Penn Park became an ecological gem at a cost of $87 million. In approximately five years the communities of East New York, Woodhaven, South Ozone Park and Howard Beach will have access to Jamaica Bay.

This week the Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) and the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) officially opened the new Penn Park at the Brooklyn Sports Club off Pennsylvania Avenue on the Belt Parkway.

After a brief introduction buses took park goers onto the park's grounds for a leisurely educational tour. For more information e-mail PennFountain@aol.com or call 347- 446-8566.
