Rep Joe Crowley: "Republicans' Spending Bill is March Madness"...
Congressman Joe Crowley (D-Queens, the Bronx), a chief deputy whip in the Democratic leadership of the U.S. House of Representatives, issued the following statement on his vote against the Republicans’ short-term spending bill. The House passed the three-week spending measure that will keep the government funded through April 8.
“The Republicans short-term spending bill is March madness. The question for members of Congress is not whether to cut the deficit, but how. The Republicans’ answer? On the backs of middle class Americans. We need a responsible plan that will move our country forward without derailing our economy, not slash and burn cuts to initiatives that create jobs and will weaken the middle class. Democrats stand willing to work toward this goal and keep our government operating, but it cannot come at the expense of hard-working Americans.”
