Charles Ober Deserves Our Support for his Years of Faithful Devotion to The Community

Now that I have a copy in hand of the absolutely ignorant, filthy, hateful letter that was sent by cowards, which bears no signature and no return address, attacking Charles Ober's character solely on the basis of his sexual orientation which was never a secret but never advertised, I give credit to all the challengers running in the election for the 30th council district seat that called to tell him it was disgusting and offered him their support regarding this matter. Tom Ognibene, who is a very conservative candidate running for the seat vacated by the disgraced Dennis P. Gallagher was the very first to stand with Charles Ober and denounce this gutter tactic which appears to have roots in the Queens Democratic Party. Frankly, it is unbelievable that Elizabeth Crowley, who has been anointed by her cousin, Big Joe Crowley, to be the Democratic Party's new princess of the 30th council district, did not condemn this ignorant, filthy, hateful letter but instead used this as an opportunity to malign Charles Ober’s credentials as a life long Democrat.

Equally disturbing is the fact that Democrat Christine Quinn, the Speaker of the City Council, who is a gay person herself, did not condemn this attack on Charles Ober. And, Yes! She is supporting the Queens Democratic Party favorite Big Joe’s cousin Elizabeth. The people of Ridgewood are astonished that Assemblywoman Catherine Nolan who represents Ridgewood and has been a strong supporter of the Ridgewood Democratic Club of which Charles Ober is the president - and for many years has worked diligently for Catherine Nolan - that Assemblywoman Nolan remains silent while the president of her club has been viciously attack in print solely on the basis of his sexual orientation. Oh! Yes, she is supporting the party favorite - Princess Elizabeth Crowley. Without question, the lack of conscience of some Democratic Party officials is a signal to the all the constituents of the 30^th council district to close ranks behind Charles Ober and let the City of New York know that the people of Maspeth, Middle Village, Ridgewood, Glendale and Woodhaven are not an ignorant, filthy, hateful lot.
