CHARLES OBER ANNOUNCES DEBATE DATE SET ON NY 1
Looks Forward to Both Crowley and Como Answering the Questions They Avoided Last Night at Juniper Park Civic Association Debate
Charles Ober announces that NY 1 has confirmed the date for the debate where all 4 candidates that are running in the 30th council district in Queens, to replace Gallagher’s seat, will have the opportunity to ask each other questions and debate each other. This is actually the first and only debate that is available to all of the voters. Ober stated “I am very disappointed that 2 candidates namely Elizabeth Crowley and Anthony Como failed to appear at the Juniper Park Civic Association Candidate Debate. At that debate many tough questions were asked of the candidates, unfortunately those 2 candidates were not available to answer.
NY 1 Dominic Carter is going to host the debate on Friday night, to air at 7 and 10 P.M. Ober stated “I would like the same questions that were avoided at the J.C.P.A. to be asked and answered by Crowley about the enormous money that is owed in campaign finance violations that have been imposed on her since 2001 after being found guilty of campaign finance fraud, in which she failed to answer questions about her suspicious filings.” Crowley is currently paying back those fines and is running with over $100,000 in the bank yet owes the people of NYC, over $56,267 in penalties & $22,207 of which was for exceeding expenditure limits. In addition, $20,000 is owed for failure to adequately explain allegations of money order fraud, which she never answered and ignored the allegations. You can see the entire investigation including how she was found guilty and just never bothered answering some of the allegations...Read report
Ober also stated “I want Como to also be asked and answer the questions involving his illegal wrong doing of the enormous amount of building violations he has incurred over the last 2 years on his house being built in Middle Village, where all the residents are up in arms about.” He is also being accused of an enormous amount of campaign fraud from using the Bd. of Elections employees for petitioning, to accepting gifts from employees to using his position of power for favors.
Responding on all these negative reports of his opponents Ober responded “I cannot believe that anyone can run under the dark clouds that these candidates are running under. I am the only candidate that does what I am suppose to do, runs my campaign to the exact letter of the law and lives my live in accordance to the laws of the land. I think the people need to realize that if these candidates are running for office and are already under a cloud of smoke, in which some of these allegations have been proven and are now being paid out in fines and some are currently being investigated, is this what the voters are going to get if they are voted into office.”
You have to ask yourself to imagine what controversy will be following these candidates if they get elected and how many scandals will they be involved in because neither knows how to conduct themselves in their outside affairs. It is very sad that even before candidates are in office they are involved in the type of scandals that used to be reserved for those already elected into office and now it has crept into candidates even before they are elected into office. It leaves many to question how these candidates received the endorsements they received from many elected officials, and unions and how people would want to be surrounding themselves with other people who cannot seem to stay within the confines of the law, the very same law that when elected they will have to place their right hand to God and Swear to uphold the laws of the land, the very same laws they have continually broken in the past few years.
Ober ended with “You have to question how she got away with writing over 200 money orders in consecutive number order and why she did not receive the same punishment that was handed down to Sheldon Leffler back in 2003 for writing over 250 consecutive numbered money orders and receiving 5 years probation and 540 hours of community service.
How is it different from what Leffler did?” Crowley refused to answer the complaint out and instead received the fines. But people have been questioning why she escaped punishment and why Leffler was convicted and sentenced for the very same act of corruption. But on Friday night it will all come out when Dominic Carter asks the tough questions and there will be no way to avoid it. This time, they will have to answer it.
