Weiner Slams Saudis for Gas Price Help Rebuff
Saudi Government “No Friend of the United States,” says Weiner
Representative Anthony D. Weiner said, “Once again the Saudis showed their contempt for the United States and our interests. Once again they showed they are not the allies they portray themselves to be. They fund and export terror, they obstruct Middle East peace, and they undermine even the most basic requests for cooperation.
“We cannot abide by this. Congress must stop the sale of hi-tech armaments. We must ban any and all us aid, and we must tell the Saudi government they are no friend of the United States.”
In January, Rep. Weiner denounced the sale of $123 million worth of state-of-the-art weapons systems, including 900 Joint Direct Attack Munitions (JDAM's) tail kits, to the Royal Saudi Air Force by the United States. Over 50 Members of Congress joined Weiner to introduce a Joint Resolution of Disapproval to prevent the deal from moving forward.
