A man who insulted a mother for cutting in line in front of him at a bus stop was chased by several angry passengers and a neighborhood mob and wound up stabbing a 15-year-old girl to death in the melee, police said.
The man, Winston Alladin, 39, was arrested at the Queens stabbing scene. The Trinidad native was being held on manslaughter charges and was expected to be arraigned later Thursday.
Alladin, who has no criminal record, told police he was acting in self-defense.
The three passengers followed Alladin when he exited at his stop and followed him for about 7 minutes before they confronted him two doors down from his home. More people outside in the neighborhood, including the 15-year-old girl, Keyanna Jones, joined the crowd as he walked.
Alladin ran to the back of a house and yelled for someone to call 911, but it was unclear if anyone did, police said. He pulled a folding knife from his coat pocket and started swiping, police said.
Keyanna was stabbed in the chest; she later was pronounced dead at a hospital.
She had recently finished her first year of high school and was about to start a summer job, said her mother, Shaqwana Jackson.
Jackson said she couldn't get over seeing her daughter in the morgue.
"Not only did I lose a part of me, I lost a friend," she told the Daily News.
No other injuries were reported, and no charges were immediately filed against anyone else involved in the dispute.
