Snowed In? Not on Hizzoner's Block, But Ozone Park is Still Completely Snowed In - NYTimes.com

It's nice to be King Bloomberg...One has to wonder if Emperor Mike's elimination of 5200 Sanitation workers last year could be the cause of this debacle in the outer boroughs...

Mayor Bloomberg's block @ 4:19pm - Photo by Corey Kilgannon
At least one city street is looking positively spiffy. That's East 79th Street between Fifth and Madison Avenues you're looking at, grayish asphalt positively gleaming (metaphorically speaking) in the afternoon shade.

The block (East 79th) happens to be the home of Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg - those are the bay windows of his doublewide townhouse on the left.

Now for comparison, here's the two block walk from my house on 103rd Avenue and 94th Street to Liberty Avenue in Ozone Park, Queens at about 6pm (an hour and a half after the photo above)...94th Street is totally impassable, as are most of the north-south streets in the neighborhood...Please note, this area is one of the busiest traffic-wise and one of the most major intersections in the entire borough of Queens...The thoroughfares of Liberty Avenue, Rockaway Blvd, Crossbay Blvd, Woodhaven Blvd and 94th Street all intersect at this location...
