NY1: Queens Congressman On Board With Congestion Pricing Plan...
Watch video...
Queens Congressman Joseph Crowley said Sunday that he is on board with Mayor Michael Bloomberg's congestion pricing plan.
Crowley says he supports the idea of charging drivers $8 to enter the lower half of Manhattan during commuting hours.
"Most of my constituents do not drive into Manhattan from the hours of 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. In fact, if they are like me, they avoid it like the plague,” said Crowley. “But there is no question, putting that aside that Manhattan is a congested place, and that the city, in many respects, is becoming less and less livable. And we have to do something about that."
Crowley also says he supports the mass transit improvements that are expected to be implemented along with congestion pricing, including several new Metro-North stations in the Bronx and LIRR stations in Queens.
