QUEENS - July 1st
The fourth member of a band of thugs who mugged a man on an Ozone Park street has been collared, authorities said yesterday.
Francisco Oramaaponte, 25, and three others allegedly surrounded and pounced on the 22-year-old victim at Liberty Avenue and 93rd Street at 12:40 p.m. June 22, law-enforcement sources said.
Oramaaponte and Nelson Morales, 23, punched the man while Ariel Tejada, 18, and Joshua Moyet, 21, pushed him up against a wall, rummaged through his pockets and robbed him, the sources said.
Morales allegedly swiped the man's backpack and waved a knife at him while telling him, "You're lucky!"
Morales, Tejada and Moyet were nabbed 20 minutes after the robbery, but Oramaaponte was picked up Thursday.
The four are charged with robbery, assault, menacing and weapons possession, a spokeswoman for DA Richard Brown said.
A man has been charged with chopping up a stolen car in Ozone Park, authorities said yesterday.
Evangolos Vasdekis, 22, and an accomplice switched the hoods and a sliding rear doors on a 1999 Chrysler Town & Country Minivan and 1996 Chrysler Town & Country Caravan on 101st Street on May 2 of last year, law-enforcement sources said.
The 1999 model was stolen off an Astoria street a few days earlier and the driver-side door lock and ignition were broken, the sources said.
Vasdekis is charged with two counts of criminal possession of stolen property and auto-stripping, said a Brown spokeswoman.
Vasdekis' accomplice is still at large.
