Pale Male, the Upper East Side's famous red-tailed hawk, reportedly was attacked by a construction worker Friday.

The New York Post says the bird was perched outside a high floor of a building at 85th Street and Fifth Avenue Friday when the worker started dropping rocks on him from the roof.

The paper says Pale Male was hit and likely wounded by at least one rock.

According to the Post, the worker has been fired, and police are investigating."
