Eyewitness News is told it took firefighters 40 minutes to extinguish the blaze, but one person was still killed when the fire swept through the home on Metropolitan Avenue.
A woman, who managed to escape the fire was treated at the scene. Three firefighters were also treated for minor injuries.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
