July 9, 2007 -- Advocates yesterday slammed the city Department of Education for not putting up a five-year strategy to reduce class size as part of its plans to spend $4.7 billion in additional funding for schools.
"This plan falls short," fumed Councilman Robert Jackson (D-Manhattan), the leader in the lawsuit that led to courts mandating the state pump billions more into city schools.
Department officials said they were going to have a five-year plan, just not immediately.
