The Daily Politics: Dueling Queens Ads by Elizabeth Benjamin...
Read original...
"A reader sent in these newspaper ads featuring potential 2008 opponents Republican Sen. Serphin Maltese and Democratic Councilman Joe Addabbo Jr. (bear in mind, however, that it's not smooth sailing for Addabbo to land the Democratic line given the fact that the man who came within 783 votes of unseating Maltese with almost zero party assistance last year - Albert Baldeo - insists he's running again).
Interestingly, these ads are generally considered a valid taxpayer expense for Council members as long as their office contact information is included. State lawmakers typically use campaign committee cash to pay for theirs.
