COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT: Joe Iaboni is very civic-minded. He is the current president of the Jamaica Rotary Club, a position he has held for the last six years. “[I am] one of the few to hold the position for this long,” he said.

Additionally, Iaboni is vice president of the Ronald Reagan Republican Club in Howard Beach and sits on the boards of the American Red Cross, the YMCA, Community Board 9 and is a member of the Queens Master Plumbers Association, among others.

JOB: Iaboni is a contractor and full-time master plumber.

PERSONAL: He is married with two children and one grandson, 14 months old.

BIGGEST CHALLENGE: “To accomplish more,” Iaboni said succinctly. In the future, he said, he would like to see a center where underprivileged children can go for medical attention and cultural experiences. “I want underprivileged kids to have a good time like everyone else.”

BIGGEST ACCOMPLISHMENT: “Helping others in need,” Iaboni said. “Where I come from [in Italy] we didn’t have much. I get great pleasure helping others.”

Iaboni said the Rotary hosts a barbecue and picnic every year to benefit those with Cerebral Palsy. The organization also donates horses and dogs to the NYPD.

In addition, Iaboni dresses like Santa and distributes teddy bears to needy children. “I’ve been doing that a lot of years,” he said.

INSPIRATION: “I feel giving back is a great thing,” said Iaboni. “My mom and dad were good-hearted people, and I want to carry this on. We have a lot of misfortunate people.”
