Fire has spread through 11 houses in Woodhaven, Queens today.
The fire started around 12:30 p.m. at a two-story house at 91-18 96th Street and was controlled three hours later.
Two firefighters and two local residents had minor injuries.Firefighters were pulled from the buildings due to the heavy winds.
We had 65 units, [a total] of 230 members - that includes fire and [emergency medical services]," said a fireman. "We had a number of EMS on the scene because of the number of buildings that were involved."
The area became filled with thick, dark smoke and many residents were displaced from their homes and forced to stay aboard a parked city bus for warmth.
Investigators say the fire spread through a common crawlspace between the buildings, and there is a possibility the fire is gas-related
